I can't even count the number of times I've told my children that. When doing their chores, schoolwork, or as adults at their job or parenting....I'm not expecting perfection, but I do expect consistency. In other words, don't beat yourself up if you miss a step or do something incorrectly a few times, but also don't use that freedom as an excuse to become lazy.
